Hi! Thanks for the recommendations. I have a couple questions about Hanon as a self taught beginner.
I’m currently practicing from Czerny op. 802 which seems of a similar type to Hanon’s book. Czerny’s seems a bit more convenient to print and read since exercises don’t span a whole page. Also Hanon seems to focus a lot on scales later on which I don’t know if it’s worth it if you already practice those. Do you know Czerny’s op 802? Can I practice those instead of Hanon?
The other question is, it looks like Hanon varies a lot in difficulty. Which exercises should I master before moving into Czerny’s and Burgmuller’s etudes?
Thank you and have a nice day
Merci !
Great video. I’ve been playing for over 3 years and learned many of my techniques from your videos. And it’s time I thank you for what you have done for me. I am still practicing scales and arpeggios, and have even started back again on Hanon exercises. But I play them in thirds an octave higher.
I would like to learn about arpeggios as I can do them badly so it would be great for some tips on speed and accuracy. Thanks!
What I found most interesting from this video, is that you explained the purpose of the different exercises, in terms of how they benefit you and finger dexterity. I don’t think that I have heard anyone else explain how Hanon exercises fingers/gaps between them. I think it is really useful to have that explained. 🙂🙂
Excellent content !
Thank you for the Hanon tip!
Great video, but it would be handy if you linked to the sites in the info section rather than mentioning them in the video.
